Banjo Brothers Waterproof Pannier Review – My favorite waterproof bike bag

I don’t drive very much, even if the weather isn’t ideal, so having a waterproof pannier is pretty critical in Colorado from Thanksgiving until April. In this article (video at the bottom), I’m going to be reviewing my favorite waterproof pannier for the bike rack on the rear of my bike, the Banjo Brothers Waterproof Pannier.

Here in Colorado our rain or snow is pretty unexpected so I try to have a waterproof pannier on my bike most of the time because I ride no matter what. For the last 5 or 6 years I’ve been using a Banjo Brother’s Waterproof Bike Pannier, sometimes two of them. These replaced my Ortlieb panniers because with the Ortliebs I was just too darn worried about keeping them on the bike when I locked up and it isn’t as easy to move them between bikes due to the hooks being adjustable for your particular bike.

Key Details of the Banjo Brothers Waterproof Bike Pannier Bag

  • MSRP of $55 per bag (For $55 this bag is a good value!)
  • Roll-top design that does stand open for when I pack too much stuff
  • 360º of reflective piping
  • Handle and shoulder strap for when I do want to take it off the bike
  • Loops for back blinky lights so that when you take the bags off your bike, the lights go with you.
  • Replaceable waterproof liner

The hooks for these bikes are pretty straightforward. They don’t fit oversized cargo bike tubing well, but they do fit my oversized Urban Arrow rack fine by opening up the mouth. On the back, there is a stretchy rope to allow you to tighten the lower hook if your bag is swinging too much away from the bike.

The only thing confusing on these bikes are the lower hooks on the back of the bag. If your bike rack doesn’t have a tab like the ones found on my Urban Arrow you need to add a hook to your bag or rack. I personally prefer to add the hook to my bike so it is easy to grab the bag, but each bag comes with 2, play around with your setup.

Conclusion
